Hi everyone!

First,19 people responding to the first call for a business meeting via this
server is great and I am hopeful that even more will join next time as they
get used to these opportunities for service and learn how rewarding it can be
to help shape the future of online meetings.

Also, I think it's important that we refrain from judging people for
attending online meetings only and that we maintain an uncritical position as to how
people "should" or should not work their programs. Face -to-face meetings
are encouraged, of course, yet criticism of people who do not or cannot attend
them is contrary to program principles. We are an Al-Anon lifeline to
many of our members. "Shoulds" do not feel like unconditional love.

Regarding business meeting item #2 -- I'm confident that it would be a
violation of U.S. copyright laws to scan and send CAL to members. There is,
indeed, some literature available for downloading as well as all of our CAL
available for sale via the WSO web site at a nominal cost. Additionally, many
public libraries and used bookstores stock CAL. I do not think we should get
ourselves involved in sending out newcomer packets to new members. We have
much ESH to share and hopefully people will learn the importance of CAL to
their own recovery, especially when we suggest in our private E-mails that they
might find ESH in this or that piece of literature.

I think we should send our excess money over prudent reserve to WSO. It
needs our support and it is also a fundamental way to continue to make our
presence known and to further legitimize our group as a valid program meeting. The
best way for our voice to be heard is to maintain a presence with WSO. If
we step away from the organization our voices become distant and possibly not
heard at all.

I agree with others' opinion that change takes time and patience on our part
is required. Finally, our global community is our "District" and I don't
think it can be broken down into smaller pieces. We don't have a "District" in
the traditional sense. Because we are a worldwide group, World Services
(WSO) IS our "District".

Love in the fellowship,

Beth
