Hi All,
I believe it is time for me to weigh in on the discussion. I have truly
benefited and learned from all the opinions presented.
I have been a member of ASP for many years. It has been one of many of my
Al-Anon tools. Although I truly believe it is a meeting in every sense of
the word, the online dimension differentiates it from a F2F or from the
Forum pamphlet (which follows the premise of a 'meeting in my pocket.')
Each has its own merit and place in the program. I don't believe sending
out CAL - like pamphlets, books or newcomers packets falls within the realm
of the online world. Not only does it become logistically complicated and
would seem to require another position at ASP, my feeling is that if you
have subscribed or attempted to subscribe to ASP you have a computer which
means you have access to e-cal and literature ordering (links that we
provide on our member pages.) Also, our greeters provide some welcome packet
style information in their interactions and with the welcome letter - maybe
the letter could be changed or expanded upon too? I don't know.
I would like to see our funds over prudent reserve donated to the WSO. And
although it is not part of the current agenda, the topic of OLA has come up
several times in several emails this week. I would like to suggest that we
also get an OLA representative to represent ASP in the world of online
groups - this might be a step towards strengthening our relationship with
the WSO - currently that position is vacant.
Hugs to all....
Anne O
