[Businessmtg] Pittsburgh Convention

Dual members and Representation:

I fought this battle in my home district. They wanted to disallow Dual
Members from serving as ISR's. The service manual states "Because of the
unique nature of both programs, Al-Anon/Alateen members who are also A.A.
members do not hold office beyond the group level, as these positions could
lead to membership in the World Service Conference (WSC)."

They cause confusion because of the statement that they can't hold office
beyond group level. What they really mean is they can't hold any office
that could lead to membership in the WSC. Considering ISR's and in our
case, any of our representatives will not hold office in WSC, I'm not
concerned about dual member status at this time.

I confirmed my standing that a Dual member can hold the office of ISR via an
email exchange with the WSO and presented it to my District and Area
representatives.

That being said, Emee brings up an interesting point about this convention.
No business is being conducted but I think one can make the point that we
are representing the online community.

I'm still on the fence on this one still but leaning towards not paying for
someone. None of my F2F and I hit 6 different ones are sending anyone. I
did want to chime in that I don't think being a dual member disqualifies
anyone should we decide to send someone based on what I quoted above.

Blessings,
Bolb
