[Businessmtg] Motion

The topic for the last couple of weeks has been a part of our discussion of
what to do with ASP money. This particular part has been about whether or
not we should fund a representative to the International Convention in
Pittsburg. The vast majority of the discussion has focused on whether we
should pay for someone to attend the Convention on behalf of ASP. There has
been almost no discussion on whether we should send someone to the
Convention without the financial factor.
Therefore, it seems to me that a broad motion stating:
"I move that ASP not send a representative to the 2008 International
Convention."
does not represent the focus of our discussion or the true essence of the
consensus.
One of the purposes of the KBDM process is to present a motion that
represents the actual consensus, unlike the Robert's Rules of Order process
where a motion represents the personal views of the maker of the motion.
The motion made and seconded by Vicki & Kennie last week was premature, but
IMO more appropriate:
"I move that ASP does not pay to have a member attend the 2008 AlAnon
International Convention."
Hugs,
Steve
