HI folks,

It's difficult to describe how appalling it is to watch members of ASP
discuss another member in this meeting.

Since when is it OK to discuss the merits of another member of Al-Anon in a
meeting? Challenging her on what meetings she attends or doesn't attend.
Certainly, we encourage ASP members to attend f2f meetings, but since when
do we infer that they aren't qualified to serve ASP without a face-to-face
home group or a background in face-to-face service?

And even questioning her sponsorship!

All in the name of Al-Anon -- Unbelievably pathetic and appalling. Even
worse than the worst I've seen in face-to-face Al-Anon and I've seen some
truly disgusting behavior in Al-Anon.

The closest parallel to our List Administrator position is the Group Rep
position in a face-to-face meeting. As a result, we have similar
qualifications to serve ASP as the List Administrator. No more and no less.

Love and SERENITY,
Steve

FYI, it is appropriate for a Steering Committee or Board of Directors to
discuss the relative merits of candidates for an appointed position.
However, those discussions are confined to the officers of that Al-Anon
entity and only for positions that they may appoint members to. The only
situation where it is appropriate to query or challenge a member of Al-Anon
regarding their qualifications for an elected service position is when
someone has evidence that the candidate is not qualified to serve according
to the established group consciences of that meeting/group/district/area
and/or what is written in the service manual regarding that type or level of
service.
