I believe that everyone in any Al-Anon meeting I attend is here for a common purpose and that we all "love each other in a special way". I am very disheartened to see/learn that even in an environment 'designed' and intended for love, compassion, and peace, we can and seem to be so mean to each other. 

I really hope that I am wrong and we are simply having cordial conversations that "appear" to be nasty because they lack the non-verbal cues that naturally occur in a F2F conversation. 

As for the LA position, or for that matter any service position F2F or online, in a meeting (not talking district and WSO level, because I know little about those interactions/meetings/procedures), qualifications were mostly about someone's willingness and ability to serve in said position; granted that individual isn't harming the group as a whole or misusing Al-Anon?
