Thanks Jerry,
You know folks, Jerry is spot on. One of the core principles of Al-Anon is rotation of leadership and it's way, way past time for Jerry to rotate.
So, we need one of you folks to step up to the plate and make yourself available to serve ASP.
If you've got questions or concerns & you'd like to talk about it first, feel free to contact any one of us directly; Jerry or Jennifer or myself.
FYI, my phone number is 360-477-0321 & I live on the west coast.
Hugs,
Steve

Good morning Biz-Pals,
Before I go through my daily ritual of reading a page
in one of my readers and spending a few moments on an
inventory and prayer, I'd like to use a little of the
"ornery" I have carried over from yesterday and express
my disappointment over how this process of rotating the
office of Treasurer of ASP is stuck.
You may know me as a reliable and honest trusted servant
(and all-around good guy,) but there are other sides to
me. (Else why would I be here, right?) I'm upset that
no one here at ASP is stepping up to the service plate.
That I should be expected to continue indefinitely in
this service without rotation is saying 1) that Rotation
of Office is NOT an important principle of service within
Al-Anon (when it is,) and 2) that Jerry'll do it.
In many face-to-face meetings I've seen this same thing.
Usually it takes the trusted servant pressing for the
group to take on its responsibility and elect new servants.
More rarely it takes an outright resignation. Sometimes the
Treasurer's position changes only when the Treasurer brings
the treasury to a meeting, drops it on the table, and walks
away. Then someone picks up the service.
I can't do that here on line. Too bad because my pre-morning
ritual self surely would like to. Perhaps this is a bit of
my own making. I was one of those who pressed our founder
to have elected group servants. I stood for the office, then
expected that normal Al-Anon practices would follow. When the
time came for rotation I pressed within the Business Meeting
for elections. Now, two years after the normal three-year
service period, here I still am. Nearly 5 years.
So let's get on with this. It's an easy job. Somebody has to
do it. Jerry won't do it forever. Please don't force me into
ultimatums and strong boundaries - I've been at this recovery
for plenty enough years to know how to do them really well.
I'd much rather have an election and smooth transfer of service
than have some of the things running around in my noggin come
to pass.
For the record we have enough money in the Treasury right now
to keep us going for about 1-1/3 years without any new monies
and a Treasurer in place. We are secure in that aspect. Where
we are not secure is in the willingness of our membership to
serve. Without that ASP can not continue to proclaim itself
as being fully Al-Anon.
In the old days they'd snag someone and tell them to "Get in
the car," meaning we're going to Assembly whether you like it
or not.
It's time for somebody here to "Get in the car."
[It's also time for me to read my page for the day don't you think... :-)]
Love and Hugs,
Jerry
