[Businessmtg] FW: Agenda

Hi Emee,

Well SHEEEEEEIT! It seems that you are correct. Or more perhaps
accurately, partially correct. I've copied the January 07, 2008 Agenda
posted by Dawn below.

As I said PARTIALLY correct (remember, I'm not yelling :-). That's because
Dawn's agenda was NOT a product of the Steering Committee - she posted her
own agendas, which you may interpret as you wish. In other words, while
Dawn did indeed post a message suggesting sending a representative to the AA
International, this was not something that was discussed in the Steering
Committee.

ASP went through numerous growing pains during the first panel after I
rotated out. Partly because of the major change since I wasn't the List
Owner/Administrator any more, partly because we had significant personality
issues in the leadership during that panel, and partly because the new List
Administrator turned out to be a member of AA. IMHO, this situation is a
reflection of the kind of problems that Al-Anon experiences when a member of
AA serves in a leadership position in Al-Anon.

While we weren't able to address the issue directly at the time, we did
address it later with my motion:

====================================
Motion #9

        "I'll move that:

Members of AA who are members of Al-Anon are not eligible to serve
in positions that could lead to the development of Al-Anon policies, as well
as those positions which represent an Al-Anon meeting to the greater Al-Anon
fellowship, or those positions that are directly responsible for the Al-Anon
message carried to the outside world. In applying this long-standing Al-Anon
policy to the ASP online meeting, it has been determined that members of AA
who are also members of ASP are not eligible to serve as Officers of ASP or
on the ASP Steering Committee. "

Moved by Steve, seconded by Ed - Sun 5/2/2010 at 9:28 EDT
        PASSED: 15 for, 3 against

====================================

Lastly, please understand that while the Steering Committee generally
functions quite well, there are occasions when we have problems just like
any other Al-Anon entity. While the current Steering Committee is trying to
be diligent about working together before an individual officer makes a
decision (such as the agenda) the individual officer still have the full
authority to make their own decisions. Which means that the agenda, for
example, is posted by the Secretary and it may or may not reflect a
consensus by the Steering Committee. We are striving to develop a consensus
within the Steering Committee on things like the agenda, but even now that
consensus may be very loosely wrapped at best.

Hugs,
Steve

Hello Everyone,

Our Agenda for this Business Meeting is to discuss the Prudent Reserve for
ASP. Following is the order that this discussion will hopefully take place
in. Please have patience as we go through this process as it does not flow
like a f2f business meeting due to time zones and so on.

1. Determine the Prudent Reserve for A Serenity Place [ASP]

2. What do we do with the monies over and above the Prudent Reserve?

3. Do we send representatives to the International Al-Anon conference in
Pittsburgh this year or the AA international conference in 2010?

4. If we decide to send representatives, who should go/how many should go?

5. If we decide to send representatives, does ASP pay all of or a portion
of the representative's expenses?

Love and Serenity,
Dawn
