I know we haven't come to a consensus yet but when we do, and a motion is presented, all discussions are then shut down.  I have a question that I am curious about before that happens.

Would you please explain to me and to our group (some of us may not know) how an ABSTAIN vote could affect the results of the 2/3 majority outcome.  Sometimes too many abstain votes can cause a motion to fail.  Do we follow these same voting procedures here at ASP or do we just ignore abstains in the voting process?  It would be helpful to me and maybe to our other members to understand the voting process we are using her at ASP before we vote.


Example if there are 12 voting members, then  2/3  majority would be 8 (I think, I'm not real good at math).

I believe that Abstentions are subtracted from the total number of voting members.
So if there are 2 Abstentions that would bring the total voting members down to 10 which would make the 2/3 majority 6.

So it is important to know the number of voting members we have and everyone must vote one way or another for the 2/3 majority to work.
