[Businessmtg] Treasurer

Actually, I rather liked the 'elated' version! :-)
About the questions Louise asked.
1. Bank: Yes, the new Treasurer will select a bank that is local to them,
open a new account, add two other officers (List Administrator and
Secretary) to the account.
2. Post Office Box: Yes, the same with the PO box. The new Treasurer will
get a local PO box so that it is convenient for them to visit the PO box,
get the mail and donations that are snail mailed.
3. Techie Stuff: It's not difficult to learn how to use PayPal. My wife is
definitely non-techie and she uses it regularly. Ditto for using a
spreadsheet to log the income and expenses so that info can be posted on the
web site. The actual posting on the web site is done by the List
Administrator, however, so the Treasurer doesn't need to understand how to
work with the server.
4. Country: IMHO, it should not matter. Unfortunately, the realities
International banking and snail mail make that very difficult and
inordinately expensive. The fees involved with moving money across
International borders are often over $US100. In other words, I don't have
any personal objections to the idea of our having an International member
serving as Treasurer, I think the problems are too great for our small
organization to resolve.
OTOH, we don't have any issues with having an International member serving
in ANY of the other positions, including serving as the List Administrator.
In fact Dawn, the List Administrator that took over after I passed the
baton, lived in Canada.
Hugs,
Steve
