Biz-Pals,

Melanie seems qualified in every respect save the one-year
membership milestone ASP has set for itself. To my mind
willingness trumps having to meet requirements exactly,
especially since no one else has stepped forward.

The length of membership requirement is an imperfect measurement
of trustworthiness, so awaiting someone with the "perfect" set
of qualifications (on paper) doesn't guarantee better service.

However ASP's financial security is imperative. Every step must
be taken to minimize risk. [Nothing personal here Melanie.]
I have experienced having an Al-Anon group losing its
treasury to a disappearing treasurer. That was around $70,
but here at ASP there is very often over $1,000 in the kitty.

At some point I feel it would be a good idea to hold our
Prudent Reserve separately from our General Account - perhaps
in an account managed by our List Administrator. Were we to do
this ASP would remain financially secure even if a Treasurer
decided to run off to Hawaii :-)

That said, I have no reason to see why Melanie shouldn't be
accepted as a candidate for the soon-to-open Treasurer position.
