[Businessmtg] OT posts

I am of two minds:

1. Because I'm a long time member who has worked her program and found a good measure of serenity, I feel no compulsion to read every item that comes through my inbox and quite easily, and without any hesitation, utilize my delete key liberally. That said... yes, gigantic upswing in OT posts that are more a play by play of the drama happening in that member's life at the moment. And while I will never suggest that member's angst is not valid, I question whether ASP is appropriately being utilized when what that person is often looking for is commiseration rather than ESH. If we wish to cut it back then I suggest:

2. Sending out the welcome letter in an abbreviated form on perhaps a monthly basis to all member as a reminder of what the format of ASP looks like and an explanation of what OT shares are intended to be. Then if we continue to have folks abusing the OT policy perhaps the List Admin could have a chat with them and explain.

I would never suggest a person not be able to ask for ESH when they are hurting but I would suggest that a person in crisis needs one on one interaction and not just a bunch of us 'fixers' glomming on to another person's problems likely causing more harm to each of our programs than good. And we all know how we Al-anons like to fix everyone else's issues.

Much love!
Apryl ;)
