Hi All,

 

First let me say that in all my years attending ASP business meetings I
haven't ever seen a turn out this large as well as this level of
participation.  It is so great to hear from everyone.

 

I have read many of the shares here.  I agree that OT shares have their
place and should be allowed.  This is not the first time that we have had a
larger than normal influx.   Email/online forums have challenges that F2F
meetings don't have.  The spontaneous conversation and immediate response
that you get from F2F is missing and if someone misinterprets a private
email message that is intended to reinforce traditions and meeting
protocols, it can spiral out of control.  Not only that it could be hours or
days after the incident that it gets read, and the meaning could be lost.
A few approaches come to mind

 

.         We have talked about beginners meetings in the past, perhaps, ASP
could start beginners meetings that precede being added to the member
meeting list.  These meetings could focus on topic based sharing and provide
guidance on finding a sponsor with whom they could share some of the more
detailed or intimate aspects of their lives.

.         Setup a chat room for after meeting mingling and discussions. The
chats could be group chats or member to member

.         Create another service position or positions with the intent of
guiding beginners through their early membership questions.  Kind of like a
Beginners sponsor, I guess this thought might be a variation of the
beginners meeting.
