[Businessmtg] Changes to job duties are determined by the business meeting.

Hi Laura,
"Each officer has the authority to do their job, but they do not have the
authority to make changes about the nature of the job, or to make changes to
any of the documentation that we have created over the years."
Please note that Greeters are not Officers of ASP. The Officers of ASP are
those elected positions that serve on the Steering Committee (our Board of
Directors).
Greeters are not officers of ASP and do not serve on the Steering Committee.
Greeters are trusted servants that are appointed by the Greeter Chair. The
Greeter Chair is responsible for the actions of the Greeters, and therefore
has the authority to supervise & remove Greeters. The same applies to the
Daily Chairs appointed by the Secretary.
Having assigned Greeters and Daily Chairs is a policy decision and therefore
belongs to the Business Meeting. For example, if the membership wanted to
change to ELECTED Greeters vs. assigned, that decision belongs to the
Business Meeting.
The implementation details of the duties of NON-OFFICERS such as Greeters
and Daily Chairs, including the documentation used by both (such as Welcome
Letters and Daily Readings) belongs to the Steering Committee.
Now, having said that, it is possible that the Steering Committee may not
reach substantial unanimity on an issue and choose to bring an issue to the
Business Meeting for additional input. However, that is a decision of the
Steering Committee and doing so does not alter the fact that the Steering
Committee still has jurisdiction over the decision.
Hugs,
Steve

meeting.
I am quoting our founding member from an email to the Steering Committee
dated 7 March 2016. This was in response to questions regarding
clarification about job duties.
"Each officer has the authority to do their job, but they do not have the
authority to make changes about the nature of the job, or to make changes to
any of the documentation that we have created over the years."
So. 1) I chose to put this on the agenda because it was requested, and in
line with the above. 2) the business meeting needs to decide if this is
something we want to change about the greeter job.
Since this will require both a duty change and a documentation change, this
needs to come before the meeting.
Thanks,
Laura M
