By now you know I believe in sticking to the group conscience whatever it may be. That said, what Sandie is saying is true in many other Al-Anon environments. I hope we can make adjustments to our business practices to officially include specifics on how we determine whether a consensus exists. The old way worked; so could a new way. 
  
Meanwhile a poll, if posted in line with Sandie's language, is just too reasonable for me to continue arguing against. I propose, as a suggestion for this and possibly future consensus determinations, the following topic-neutral poll choices: 
  
Regarding the current topic of ____________, should we 
 __ continue discussing it 
 __ drop the matter 
 __ recommend to a committee, thought or task force. 
  
Nice and tidy, and as Sandy said a very good substitute for a show of hands.
