I want to extend my apologies to the group for my recent reaction to the
personal attack against me made here in the business meeting.
I thank each and every one of you who has emailed me to support me, and I
especially thank the person who gently reminded me that I was *elected *by
the business meeting, and as such I have an obligation to continue. We are
all here because we are Al-Anonics, and unfortunately, none of us are
cured. We just have to remember that we are all doing the best we can...me
included.
Since I was elected to be secretary, and chairing this meeting falls under
my duties, I will continue to chair this meeting within the guidelines
present on the web, regardless of any other person's interpretation of
those guidelines or hidden rules. If someone wishes to point out an error I
have made within those guidelines, I ask that you email me privately,
rather than upbraiding me in front of the whole group. And as always, I am
open to gentle and constructive suggestions on how I can serve this group
better.
If any member wishes to see me step down for any reason, I will gladly put
that on the agenda for the next business meeting. Until then, though, I
have an obligation to this group to continue.
So.
Let us continue to discuss the suggestion on the floor. I am open to
letting the "show of hands" be absolutely transparent. It would be in a
face to face meeting. As far as a tally sheet, I reject that idea because
it is too easy to overlook less vocal members and it will not account for
changing minds.
As far as following KBDM, I agree with Sandie that we don't do it by the
book, so making us stick to part of it while ignoring the rest seems rather
hypocritical.
My goal is to make sure everyone gets heard. If there are other ways to
make that happen, I wold be very happy to hear them.
Hugs,
Laura M
