[Businessmtg] Show of Hands/Consensus Building

Hi All,

At some point I would like to suggest that all members of this Business
Committee read and reread about Warranty 3 of Concept 12 in Paths to
Recovery (pages 325-326) and the Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual (pages212
and 213).

In taking a consensus on important matters, we are simply making sure that
all minority voices have been heard. Have the minority vi been heard
regarding the subject of this discussion? If not, what is the simplest way
to accomplish that goal? There are no "secret ballots" in Al-Anon. A show
of hands and voting are open for all to hear and see.

One point I will make here: "Al-Anon has always recognized the value of
seeking consensus rather than settling for a bare majority. There are
times, however, when a decision must be made, despite the lack of
substantial unanimity. In these cases, the group conscience can decide
whether a simple majority will decide the question or if further discussion
is warranted. As long as the principles laid down in our Traditions and
Concepts have been followed, Warranty Three is satisfied.Warranty Three
guides us to consider all viewpoints carefully in the group conscience
process, and to strive for substantial unanimity."

Keep It Simple, please,
