"The Business Committee Chair may call for a straw poll during the 
discussion of an Agenda Item, but before a motion is formed, in order 
to collect committee attendees' positions and input which may help form a 
motion that is acceptable to a substantial majority." 
  
...was written specifically to permit the meeting chair the latitude to use any polling method it chooses to collect the information needed to create motions which are likely to gain a substantial majority approval. It even falls short of requiring the Chairperson to poll at all ("may"). 
  
I made the motion, it has been seconded, I have heard no reason to amend it at this point in that it already permits those points suggested as amendments. I am willing to let it go to voting as it stands. 
  
If, in the future, it becomes evident that changes in this policy become necessary it can be easily changed and I would not resist. 
  
Short answer: No, I don't agree with the proposed additional language.
