[Businessmtg] Welcome Emails

As a newcomer, I liked the welcome emails. I only got 10-12. Many I have sent them to seem very appreciative of a personal welcome. I think, like many have mentioned, it's the sheer volume of meeting emails that scares people away. I had the summer off so I got used to checking throughout the day. When I work a full week and life gets so busy, I can't get to topics and feel overwhelmed to see 100+ emails.

I also understand I can delete them or skip an entire topic. But the idea of a beginner's meeting with less emails and simpler topics is great. I did that f2f when I started and there was a lot of q and a among the group members. It was very different from a typical meeting. It might lessen the OT emails too. It tends to be desperate newcomers who need to get out their frustrations who post OT. If they can do that in the beginner's meeting it might lessen the OT shares in the reg. meeting.

I also like the idea of asking people if they are new to Al-Anon or just the group, giving them choice to do the beginner's meeting or jump right in.

Great ideas everyone! Thanks for taking the time to come up with them.

Christine
