Thank you to Jane for your clarity and honestly.

What I'm about to say is not new, but I think it deserves to be said.

 

No One person controls this group - it's managed run by various Chair
persons and the Business meeting chair on behalf of the group's members.

This group is run and is subject to the will of its 890 members, by
discussion, vote and where  ever possible unanimity.

Dominance is the thing that has the potential to close this group down, and
unless there is an Inventory held, then that risk could become a reality.

The steering committee does not own the group, it's owned by the 890 members
who gain great help from the meetings. 

Any decisions or changes to the group are managed by the business meeting,
with the Al-Anon meeting's wellbeing foremost in their minds. 

 

If we want people to fill the vacant roles then we are obliged to help them
to succeed. We need to help them.

This means giving support and loving encouragement until the person is able
to perform the role comfortably.

Those people who wish to criticise may well be better speaking to their
sponsor before writing damaging emails.

 

I've been in this group for a long time and I'm just plain sad to see this
happening.

Perhaps we can talk to each other, and reason things out and find a
solution.
