In response to Steve:

As any elected official should, I think it's important to vote outside of
one's own opinion favoring instead what's in the best interest of the group.
In this case, we can't vote against group conscious. We shouldn't be voting
at the SC level to make changes that go against group conscious. I will
suggest that those who've been around longer than the rest of us should be
able to assist us newer folk in navigating the waters of current group
conscious.
