Morning all,

Yes, there is a beginner's page. As an old Art Director, designer, and sometimes writer and editor I can only say that there's much good stuff there, too much and confusingly presented from a beginner's point of view. Overwhelming as I've heard many report.

With a new format and fresh rewrite with the addition of rotating 1st Step Shares along with the tutorials and samples of sharings, etc., as roughly outlined, I think we could come up with something that even a stressed out and confused newcomer would be able to use to get up to participation speed quickly - with content of regular interest to the entire membership to boot.

As it stands every cranny of that page is jam packed with information it took me months and months to get down pat when I started out. Jerry's 'Rule One' of good print communications: Don't do anything that will make your reader stop reading.

Many newcomers are in tough circumstances. Because their focus is easily lost, less is more, simple is best, and information drip works better than an information flood. I'm absolutely certain we could come up with something newcomers would want to read, which would present them with the essential information simply, and still make all the detailed information available to them, too.

I'd like to take a crack at this. The worse that could happen is that we'd give it a good go, try it out on a temporary basis, and if we didn't like it either make necessary changes or revert to the original text. Nothing ventured; nothing gained, Continuous Improvement, and all that...
