[Businessmtg] "Rejecting" email

I just want to make it clear to Steve and anyone else who thinks they know
how to currently do the jobs Sandie and I were elected to...and are
criticizing without knowing the process or what happens currently on the
ground day in and day out.
There is no blanket rule that applies to either the business meeting or
recovery meeting. We don't always reject. We don't always approve. There
is no one set action.
*And there cannot be a blanket rule. *
If there was a set rule, we wouldn't have to get the notices. We could set
up the list to do it for us.
Every time we get flagged for a "too many recipient" email we have to
review the email and decide how to respond. I get notices for both lists -
recovery and business - so I see these emails every day, multiple times a
day.
*Never *have we just let it slide with a rejection. If an email isn't going
to go through to the list, Sandie and I *always* communicate with the
sender about why, explain the issue of cross talk and how to properly
send. In addition, during the times I am backing up the list administrator,
we copy the other so that we both know what is going on. This was
particularly helpful when I was doing my cross-training.
I am more likely to approve a message going through to the business meeting
because I am aware of the necessity of discussion. I cannot think of a time
I have rejected a message there.
I am more likely to instruct on the recovery meeting because as Sandie
pointed out, most of the time it was supposed to be a private response, and
the sender is glad it didn't go to the list. Every time I have rejected a
message that should have gone to the list, I have sent gentle guidance, and
the person resends properly.
So that is my ESH.
Laura
