I think a packet is important. And something to add in the packet might be
a list of common abbreviations. Our short hand speak via email might be a
bit overwhelming.

I also think that while the link is good, it needs to be a bit plainer than
that. Simple and direct links to things like the Just for today book mark,
the literature purchase location, etc would be an easy fix for that and
would take the need for navigation away. When you click the newcomer link,
there is more to do and that gets exhausting.

A step by step explanation and approach might work best:

IE:

Welcome to ASP Below are links to important pieces of literature that can
help you navigate the emails that will come in and help you find materials
to help you learn the language and spirit of Alanon.

For free information and reading materials approved by Al Anon, click here:

For info on Acronyms:

For info on CAL (Conference approved literature):
http://asp-afg.org/members/conference-approved-literature

The above is a small amount of resources available to the newcomer here at
ASP.

For a complete list and site for our new comers please click here:

This helps the newcomer navigate some of the info they need to figure
things with out having to wade through the page while at the same time
giving them the info they can access later when they are less overwhelmed.

Just an idea.
