[Businessmtg] Newcomers packet

I feel that a packet of info will become redundant once the newcomer
committee reviews the strategies we have for dealing with newcomers. It
makes sense that we end the packet in its current structure and address the
needs for sharing information through our committee.

As the members of ASP have joined the meeting digitally, it doesn't make
sense to me to create a paper communication. We can communicate quite
effectively through links to online sources the same information that our
face to face meetings might provide through paper sources.

F2F meetings hand out materials because that is how they connect with their
members--tactile and in person. We can hand out materials the same way we
connect with our members-digitally. It would be in keeping with how we
meet the needs of our members.

One more thing, as a newcomer my life was so crazy that the mail
overwhelmed me. I avoided my mailbox and only dealt with the things I knew
were important. In addition some of our newcomers may not want mail coming
to their location. Online meetings are very anonymous and that may be part
of the appeal. Adding more mail to my life meant adding more stress even
if it was designed to help me through the struggle. I would have just
tossed the materials.
