[Businessmtg] Newcomers Packet vs What we really want to share with newcomers

Firstly, I would think we could scan certain pamphlets for a packet.
Most of the ones you can copy have something at the end that says you can
copy.

As I've done more thinking on new comers and a packet- I reflected on when
I attended a newcomers meeting and also chaired a series of four in my f2f
district.
What is our purpose of providing a packet?
For the benefit of our online group Do we have a need to teach new comers
online meeting format, for members to share what brought them to Al-Anon
and to go through the first three steps.
Could we provide a link such as this business mtg link where on
Mon-Thursday we have a new comers meeting - it appears we have quite a few
newcomers, use the suggested WSO guidelines for four meetings. Of course,
it would open a committee and service positions and like a gr position to
chair you would be required to have so many years in program. Would this
be more beneficial to our group as a whole?

Do we need to restructure the purpose of this business meeting and decide
what it is we want to share with the newcomer, a packet of pamphlets or if
we want to make them aware of the steps, share our stories and share about
what we share in meetings.

Is there a need to provide a member list of those who are willing to be
contacted by new comers as they share their problems who can make gentle
suggestions and teach them about putting the focus on themselves. (I was
remembering a few of my monologues when I was new- and the chairperson
gently told me it would be good to try and focus on myself and relate the
topic to me and not what the alcoholic was doing). I don't remember the
exact wording but I soon noticed no one else was sharing their victim
story.

All of this came to me today as I was reading shares- and doing some
reflection. I hope I am stating my thought clear enough for understanding.

Love in Recovery
