[Businessmtg] Rescinding

This is my personal share, which I am allowed to make by the policies set
forth on the website (source:
http://asp-afg.org/members/business-meeting-process-at-asp/, "D. The Chair
is a full member & participant in the Business Meeting and may post
messages just like any other member of the meeting.")

I personally would have preferred to table this issue until the next
business meeting. Why? Because I don't think there is enough new
information that will be forthcoming during any discussion to persuade
those who want to rescind to throw it to the newcomer meeting, nor to
persuade those who want to throw it to the newcomer meeting to rescind. I
see the validity of both points.

I am flummoxed at the kerfuffle this agenda item has made. The intention
seem s clear and honorable to me: we did something that has a price tag
attached in a previous business meeting, and Jerry wanted to clean it up
and not have it hanging over our heads. I don't like having financial
liabilities.

At this point I am in favor of rescinding the previous motion, because you
know what? If we decide at some point in the future that it would be a good
idea, we can vote it back in. We're not working in concrete, folks. If we
rescind it and the newcomer committee decides that this is something that
really needs to be done, we can consider it - and the new increased costs -
at that time.
