[Businessmtg] ASP Biz Meeting: My Opinion and Discussion on Topic 2

Hello all,
I have come to the possible conclusion that one reason we are having
difficulty on this Agenda Item is that a Motion was already in play.
Rather than having a discussion amongst current ASP members regarding
whether or not we would like to have Newcomer Packets available to send to
those that ask, we were instead guided to choose to keep the old motion or
axe it. Perhaps there was a lack of communication since most everyone
replied with a "keep it" or "get rid of it".
*The nature of how we got here is less important than finding a way out at
this time. I will say that this has been a great opportunity to learn!

I don't know if this is an option for us but.. can we press the restart
button on this Agenda Item?  I personally think that we might actually get
to a consensus quicker than continuing this way.

*Here is my discussion on the Agenda Item:*
1.) While it is not directly stated in our Traditions, I believe having
Newcomer Packets is a tradition in Al-Anon that dates back to the earliest
days of our Fellowship.  I am not willing to lose that tradition for the
sake of it not "being hip to the times"
2.) The Newcomer Packets appeared to fail because the member who committed
to service in handling the task, did not follow through. Having only one
instance of Newcomer Packets failing , which had everything to do with the
member and not the motion, is not sufficient for me to disregard the
potential success of the motion.
