Hi Jennifer,
Attending the Business Meeting requires nothing more than having an email
address subscribed to the Business Meeting. That is little different than
having one's email address subscribed on the ASP server, which is addressed
very specifically in the resume form:
". . . merely having one's email address on the ASP server is not
participation."
Likewise, having one's email address on the Business Meeting roster is not
qualifying "service" to ASP.
OTOH, serving ASP on a special committee tasked with a specific duty,
whether it be a standing committee such as the Greeter Committee or a
special committee such as the Newcomer Committee is participation in service
to ASP. Participation on one of these committees is by definition performing
a duty for ASP that involves considerable work & effort. That is service.
I would not consider attendance in the Business Meeting as service to ASP,
and certainly not service qualifying a member to serve as an officer.
Attendance in the Business Meeting doesn't constitute service to ASP,
especially since most that "attend" do not participate on any level.
Lastly, as Sandie pointed out earlier, the Business Meetings are not
necessarily bi-monthly. Business meetings are held on an ad hoc basis - as
needed. When we have issues that need to be addresses, we tend to have
bi-monthly business meetings. But, when things are going smoothly, which is
the norm in ASP, we may not have a business meeting for many months.
Hugs,
Steve
