Biz-Pals,

Just to keep within the bounds of Robert's Rules - in case this process comes under future scrutiny - I second Jane's request to withdraw her original motion.

Under RRs, a motion, once made, belongs to the body, not the originator of the motion. A formal withdrawal request, a second, and a vote of the body are all required for withdrawal - unless there is unanimity expressed in which case a formal vote is unnecessary. Until this is done (one topic at a time is under consideration) further motions are out of order.

I call for a vote on this request to withdraw the original motion. Further, I suggest something akin to a voice vote to discover whether unanimity exists. Our "straw pole" process approximates this. If unanimity is not found a full vote would be required.

Once a result is had, should the withdrawal request pass, I encourage someone to make a motion such as Jane, Kristin, or I have suggested.

This has been tough rowing for all of us. I'm grateful to all.
