Hello Fellow Business Meeting people -

I'd like to piggyback on Georgia's statement that "while I'm new to this Business Meeting, I'm not new to the process"

I have been traveling for work and quite sick, so I had planned to set aside time today to try to follow the Businessmtg emails in order. I thought that by doing so I'd be able to see some continuity in thought process and conversation.

No such luck. So the business meeting needs to know that there are either private conversations going on or we are not all getting all the businessmtg emails.

I don't claim to understand all the issues concerning the 'new' vs 'old' website. I have only known the 'new' site.

What did strike me was when I read something, somewhere (and I'm paraphrasing, so don't shoot me) that basically said, "if we approve the new website without discussing the changes that were made, what Al-Anon principles are we following?" And I thought, "Progress, not Perfection". And we were days and days into discussing the website before I had that thought. Accepting the current website gives us a place to start.

While there may be faults (I'm not commenting on that, I'm only repeating what other business members have been saying.) the current site is working.

Here is information I seem to have missed - if we go back to the old site and Jane's term has ended, who is responsible for updating the old site? Who is taking Jane's place? We seem to have a problem with filling service positions. Actually, I guess that question is relevant whether we approve the new site or go back to the old one.

I am also more than a little concerned that there are other business matters that have been overlooked or brushed aside as the meeting has focused on the website. Once we move forward from the current controversy, when does our next meeting start and what items will be discussed at that time? Will we, again, focus on the website?

I am interested in hearing thoughts/comments from many people in this business meeting. There seem to be a few primary speakers in this business meeting. So that actually circles back around to the idea of a Group Conscious. If only a few members are speaking during the business meeting, how is that reflective of the Meeting as a whole?

Jennifer
