Subject: [Businessmtg] Steering Committee Letter to the Business Meeting
Dear ASP Business Meeting Members:
This month's Business Meeting did not come off as well as it could have.
The proceedings deviated in some meaningful ways from ASP's approved
practices. Questions have arisen which have signaled some doubts or
suspicions within the meeting. Even the appearance of possible impropriety
has the power to prompt discord and hinder the loving participation which is
the foundation of group harmony.
Trusted servants, whether as members of the Steering Committee or the
Business Meeting, owe the ASP membership a degree of trustworthiness higher
than just following known and suggested policies and practices.
The Steering Committee, aware that trust is key to service, has recognized
that accepting the poll taken in this month's Business Meeting could cause
future discord.
The requirements of ASP's election process were not entirely adhered to.
The posted poll and any results are therefore called into question. The
Steering Committee suggests that the Business Meeting accepts our proposals
that the current Business Meeting be chalked up as a learning opportunity
and that all current business be tabled until March's regular Business
Meeting.
Each of us has at one time or another been encouraged to start our day over
when things go sideways. So, too, can the Business Meeting stop, gain its
footing, and then proceed. We hope to see you in March and assure you that
we'll have ironed out the kinks by then.
In service,
The ASP Steering Committee
