Discussion Topic #1 - The Newcomer Committee

A while back we passed Motion #14: 

“THAT A TEMPORARY COMMITTEE BE FORMED, ANSWERABLE TO THE BUSINESS
COMMITTEE, TO REASSESS ASP’S NEWCOMER-RELATED MATERIALS AND HOW ASP
COULD BETTER SERVE NEWCOMER NEEDS.”

This started out as a simple idea to create what amounts to a 1st Step
Story page on our website with a rotating selection of members' 1st step
shares. It branched into assessing our newcomer materials of all sorts,
then further into suggestions of something along the lines of a
Newcomers' Meeting. 

The Committee itself has not gotten off the ground in part because other
major issues have distracted the principals from moving things forward. 

The question at hand today is this: 

Do we want to continue this temporary committee, and if so where should
it focus its direction? 

Subordinate to this is the matter of finding willing members to serve on
this committee should it be continued.

Over the next 4 or 5 days we will have an open discussion on all aspects
of this Newcomer Committee and see where this leads us. Put on your
thinking caps and let's see what we come up with.
