I agree with what everyone has said about the Newcomer meetings, in terms
of it being a touchstone of warmth in a venue that's typically a bit cold
(the internet).
I love online meetings b/c that's how I digest and transmit information
best. Reading and writing is where the majority of my growth has occurred
in recovery.   I'm so grateful for these online meetings. They have helped
me tremendously, with my social issues.

I have social anxiety and when I'm pressured to be " social" within f2f,
meetings, it can backfire for my recovery. I understand the importance of
being social and connected as a part of recovery, but there seems to be
immense pressure in f2f meetings that this is the ONLY way.

My point is, I'm sure out of the 1000+ members, this online group may be
the only contact they have for that reason., or other reasons that have
scarred them deeply.
F2F meetings may not be options for people in here and I feel a committee
that says "hey that's alright, lets get you started in a place you feel
comfortable" would be beneficial in carrying the message.
