I also like the part where you said that newcomers made a choice to attend
this meeting.  I remember back in the eighties at the newcomers meeting I
went to i was given a choice to go.  I found the regular meeting
overwhelming at the time, and someone offered a suggestion to go to the
beginners meeting.

I’m glad I wasn’t forced into something, as I was already well versed in
fitting that square peg into the round hole quite inadequately myself.  I
would not have known the difference.......Ha ha.

That’s what I really like about program is that I learned how to make
choices to fit my needs. And that I’m still a beginner at heart.

Another thought I had, which is directed to everyone, is that recently in a
meeting I noticed that new members were shuffled under some so called
leader person’s wing so they could sponsor them.  Other members were
speaking about it saying that that leader was practicing the disease and
not working on their own recovery.  Seemed like some kind of control issue
that leader had.  Idk.

Has anyone else experienced/seen this?  Working with newcomers and finding
shifting the focus over to the newcomers recovery instead of their own
recovery?

This makes me uncomfortable and awkward to even speak about.  I would hope
that would not happen if we decided to have a newcomers committee
rebirthed.
