All,
I do not have a strong opinion on this. Personally, I have no issue with
archiving shares, however, this is not about me. It has been interesting to
hear the different perspectives on this.
Based on my list of pros and cons, I would lean towards not archiving. I am
sharing my list with all of you.
Pros:
. A library of shares for our members who may have limited access to
Al-Anon literature.
Cons to archiving based on our current state:
. I would question whether or not a newcomer who signs up with this
is aware of the archived shares, I have been unable to find information that
states this anywhere. Unless you log in to your account, which isn't a
requirement to participate, you would never know these exist.
. And, I would question once they do know what the comfort level of
the newcomer might be and if it would be a deterrent to joining.
. Although we have plenty of space to keep these archived
"indefinitely", at some point that could change, and then comes document
retention guidelines, like how long are they stored and what is the
threshold, and administrative task for trusted servants that already have
much to do.
Hugs,
Anne O.
