Hi, all,

This Business Meeting (BM) has tried for three consecutive meetings to
find a qualified candidate to stand for the ASP Treasurer position. This
spans, now, six month's time with no assurance that the future will
bring better results. Meanwhile the active treasurer absolutely needed
to resign the position for a variety of personal reasons which put her
and ASP in a real bind.

Further, it was also discovered that ASP's prior treasurer - who had
kept the old ASP bank account which she had set up for her prior service
open because the new treasurer couldn't open an account without tying it
to her Social Security number - was suffering serious financial
hardships because the ASP bank balance was being counted as her asset
(because of requirements that that account be attached to her SS#.) What
a mess this was turning into for everyone.

As background, my former service as ASP treasurer - supposedly for three
years - turned into nearly five years because the BM couldn't get around
to the topic. Considering all this, and with the best interests of ASP
and these now former ASP trusted servants in mind, I made an autonomous
decision. I am fully authorized to do so by ASP's Group Conscience when
necessary for the good of the group. Though I do so reluctantly ASP's
current situation demanded that action be taken promptly.

There are a number of the moving parts which guided my decision:

~ The dire need of two ASP members to completely detach from serving ASP
ASAP,

~ The group's need to have a more secure treasury,

~ The inability of the BM to produce even one qualified candidate over
six months,

~ and, finally, the ongoing work on the passed motion requiring ASP to
seek and finalize becoming a non-profit entity.

All these and maybe some I've not mentioned played a part in my decision
which was to appoint the current trusted servant who was charged by GC
with the forming of the non-profit and the bank to be account attached
to it, Steve R., as ASP Treasurer _pro tem_. In addition to continuing
work on By-Laws for proposal, and at my direction, he has opened an new
ASP bank account and has as near as we can tell completed the changeover
of our PayPal account to it. (PayPal doesn't play nice.) Because Steve
has no other assigned tasks he is not in my estimation filling two
positions, and, surely, his having founded ASP demonstrates his
dedication and his fidelity to this group.

The donation addresses on our website will reflect these changes. Both
past treasurers are in full cooperation. Our old PO Box should by now
have a change of address form in place. The bulk of money transfers from
the old to new account are complete.

A minute about the title Treasurer _pro tem_: Steve is now acting as our
Treasurer. Until such time as things stabilize around here [Non-Profit
status, all bank accounts confirmed and all monies transferred, new
PayPal info finally confirmed (a grueling task!), and decisions are made
about how future ASP treasurers are to interact with this new, permanent
ASP bank account, and ASP's website 7th Tradition Register is in once
again in place, etc.,] Steve will fill this position. At some point a
new treasurer will be elected and Steve will be relieved by an elected
treasurer. That situation is fluid.

In trusted service,

Jerry H., L.A.
