All,

Newcomers to the Business Meeting are coming to this topic without the
benefit of past BM discussions. I offer a brief summary for review:

Introduction to Website Topic

A Serenity Place (ASP) was one of the very earliest on-line Al-Anon
groups. Ownership of the site was originally held by our founders, only
one of whom is still with us today. ASP set forth its operation policies
and practices in its Founding Statement and gained a reputation as a
reliable source of Al-Anon recovery for those who found this new medium
to their liking. You can find ASP's Founding Statement & Policies at:

http://asp-afg.org/members/founding_policy/

The ownership of the ASP site was later turned over to its membership.
Elected officers took over the day-to-day operations and financial
responsibilities. You can find ASP's service structure at:

http://www.asp-afg.org/ASP/Business/nbm/structure.htm

ASP had had a website which reflected these policies and practices. A
few years ago the suggestion was made that we update its appearance from
its old, aging format. In the process of this update some content was
altered in ways which conflicted with the existing group conscience.
After a period of discussion it was decided that the new appearance of
the website would stay, but the text would have to be reworked to
comport with the existing group conscience.

That work has, by all reports, been completed. For the past few Business
Meetings members have had the opportunity to review the site and submit
their views on its accuracy and content.

ASP Policy requires that this process go on as long as necessary to
assure that we get it right. I believe we are just about at that point,
and ask that all Business Meeting members give our website a careful
review and submit their final comments. ASP uses a Knowledge-Based
Decision Making format for making group decisions which you can find at:

http://asp-afg.org/members/kbdm/

I hope we are able to reach a consensus on the website this month, form
a motion or motions to finally approve its content, and set forth a
process for making any future changes to it. It is our face to the
internet universe so it needs to accurately reflect who we are as a
group.

The table is now open for discussion.

In service,
Jerry H.
