Biz-Pals, 

The agenda presented to the Business Meeting chair included only two
items. Since we have nearly two weeks left in this month we have time to
include the Steering Committee's third Business Meeting topic: 

"The Beginners' Committee" 

Background: 

This committee was formed to explore how A Serenity Place might better
serve our newcomers. The starting idea was a suggestion that we
instigate a literal "1st Step Meeting." A page could be created on our
website which would focus on beginner issues and include a rotating set
of First Step stories from some of our members. A review of our web
content and communication tools related to newcomers was suggested, too.


This committee then stalled - in large part because other more serious
events have dominated the Steering Committee and Business Meeting. Those
events have passed and it's time to see if there is renewed interest in
continuing this committee's work, or if it's time to close the committee
down. 

With so many newcomers these days it is becoming more evident every day
that many new members don't "get" the spiritual shot in the arm that f2f
1st Step meetings give. Beyond that there are technical things about ASP
that newcomers overlook in their sprint toward immediate recovery. :-) 

Can we, should we, do more? 

The topic is now open for discussion. Go/No Go?, Ideas?, etc., etc.
