[Businessmtg] Questions/Comments LA Report + 3rd Agenda Item

Hi Jerry and BM,
I have some questions/comments about your report.

1. "Mandatory Reporters" include child care workers, caregivers, clergy,
counselors/mental health workers, medical examiners, coroners, health care
workers, fire fighters, photo booth workers, in addition to what Jerry
stated.  As a mandated reporter myself I have struggled with what to do
when someone indicates suicidal thinking, homicidal thinking and abuse
happening in posts to the meeting.  I am very clear that my ethical code
indicates that I must report.  Anonymity is not confidentiality, and
therefore I may have the obligation to report.  I have contacted members in
the past regarding their posts to determine if I needed to make a report to
law enforcement.  I think it could be worthwhile for it to be announced
that there are mandatory reporters present to alert the fellowship.  I
understand that Al-Anon does not get involved in these sorts of things,
however, by law I am required to.  It would be helpful to have the support
of ASP in notifying members of this. I do have the support of my f2f.

2.  It appears our meeting continues to grow by leaps and bounds.  I also
frequently see people asking the recovery meeting to unsubscribe them.  How
many people are unsubscribing?  Is the 2000 number accurate including all
those that unsubscribe?  How do we identify lurkers or inactive people on
the mailing list?  How do we scrub the list so that only those wanting to
be active are on the mailing list?

3. 3rd topic for the BM: The Beginners Committee.  While this appears to be
a great topic for discussion, I am confused why this is being raised when
it was not on the original agenda sent by the Secretary, nor was it on the
agenda the LA sent out at the beginning of the meeting.  My understanding
and experience in my f2f is all agenda items need to be announced to the
recovery meeting so everyone has the opportunity to participate.  The
greater recovery meeting does not know we are discussing this topic and may
have valuable feedback, as we have already seen from the two newcomers in
this BM.  Thank you to both of you newcomers for contributing your
thoughts. It seems this topic should be tabled until next BM, and the
previous/first agenda should be followed, as it was published to the
recovery meeting. Therefore wouldn't the next topic be The Loop?
