[Businessmtg] Newcomer Committee

Newcomer committee I believe is a good idea for a group of this size.  The
committee that began months ago as I understand did not meet their task.
The committee was at that time to be temporary like a thought force.  I
agree close it.

I do believe a newcomer discussion is needed most especially with the
number of new members each day joining ASP.

My experience
I didn’t start to get better till I attended regularly a newcomer meeting.
There  I learned about alcoholism and the first 3 Steps.  I learned I’m not
responsible for the alcoholic’s behavior.  I was encouraged to focus on my
own recovery, talk to members between meetings and get a sponsor.  I began
hearing about letting go of fears, resentments and self-pity.   I learned
why anonymity, why CAL, Unity and Principles over Personalities.

I am ever grateful for that experience.

Is that happening here at ASP?

At least what about a week of optional meetings for newcomers to get their
feet wet?
