[Businessmtg] Apologies - Jerry's Missteps

Biz-Pals, 

A few things about which I want to apologize: 

1) I brought forward only two topics to this month's Business Meeting
expecting it would take the whole month to reach some level of unanimity
on them. Wouldn't you know it, things zipped along. 

   So I then brought forward the third-rated topic from the Steering
Committee's list. That's just not proper here at ASP. We have policies
and practices I simply didn't think of. Agenda items are to be available
ahead of the meeting so members can decide if they are interested in
what's coming up. Not including a full listing of all items the Steering
Committee put forward didn't allow members with this information. 

2) I recently stated that this Saturday I would answer the many
questions that were posed to me by a few members if the third topic had
died down. I have re-thought this statement and decided that doing so
would only provide a forum for more discord and set yet another bad
example of not following the agenda. In time I may respond where
appropriate. For now calming the waters is called for and a thorough
return to following ASP's Group Conscience processes. 

3) Not thinking, in the midst of the chaos, I suggested that "OT" be
used in the Business Meeting as it is in our recovery meetings. Nope, we
only talk about one agenda item at a time in the Business Meeting
according to our stated practices. I contributed to the meeting getting
more, not less, confusing. Seems I'd better read the guidelines again. 

So, apologies for all of the above. 

The "Newcomers Committee" topic is tabled until November's Business
Meeting and this meeting is adjourned. I'm absolutely certain we'll do
better next time.
