Hi Friends:
I have mixed feelings about these topics and really need to digest the points made so far.
As a sponsor, I do urge sponsees to get involved in one way or another. I do encourage some to
volunteer to chair meetings at ASP when I think they are "ready" and when I feel they will benefit
from the returns that service gives. In retrospect, it seems like it does take about 6 months or so
with a newbie, but perhaps it takes less but knowing the restriction, I guest wait 6 months?
I certainly see no problem with counting "time served" in f2f meetings if an ASP newcomer volunteers.
Al-Anon is Al-Anon.

Being an Al-Anon "long-timer" I must confess I do find ASP's "rules" (poor choice of words) cumbersome and
confusing. I admit to frustration. Yes, f2f business meetings can become frustrating also, but there aren't all the limitations and/or restrictions on discussion and resolution. And getting participation in business meetings can be
a challenge in f2f also - people come late when they know a business meeting takes the first part of a meeting and
people don't stay if the business meeting is at the end of the Al-Anon meeting, and nearly no one shows up if it's totally separate.

I don't feel I've contributed anything here, and I really do want to read and reread the input again. I guess at
this moment, I'm neutral.
Hugs, Linda
