[Businessmtg] FW: FW: suggesting a change to motion - Version 2

Hi ASPers,

In response to another clarification question I just received privately, I
tweaked my suggested amendment to the motion on the floor. To be clear, the
result specifies that the list of agenda topics on the proposed web page be
for FUTURE Business Meetings. Once the Business Meeting is finished with an
Agenda Topic, the topic would be removed from the list.

The original amendment I submitted approximately 35 minutes ago is
withdrawn.

Love and SERENITY,
Steve

============================================

ORIGINAL MOTION:

I move that that ASP create a web page listing the Business Meeting agenda
to include the following for each topic:

a. Topic Name (provided by member)
b. Name of member requesting topic
c. Date requested
d. Description; member's description of topic - OPTIONAL

And that a foot note be included to invite and encourage participation to
join our business meeting.

UPDATED MOTION:

I move that ASP create a web page listing future Business Meeting Agenda
topics requested by members of ASP, to include the following for each topic:

a. Topic Name (provided by member)
b. Name of member requesting topic
c. Date requested
d. Description; member's description of topic - OPTIONAL

And that a foot note be included to invite and encourage participation to
join our business meeting.

============================================

FOR REFERENCE, this is the text of our KBDM process that pertains to
amendments to motions:

b. i. The maker of a motion on an issue that came from the KBDM phase does
not have the same right of refusal to accept amendments to the motion that
they would have in a strict parliamentary process.

b. ii. Anyone may suggest amendments to the motion. Either the maker of the
motion or the Chair may accept the amendment.
b. iii. Motions arising during a pure parliamentary meeting are subject to
the traditional parliamentary rules regarding amendments.

============================================

In other words, I believe that either:

a. The maker of the motion (Veronica) and seconder (Mary) can accept this
amendment, or

b. The Chair can accept this amendment.

Obviously, it would be nicer if Veronica and Mary accept this amendment.

Love and SERENITY,
Steve

Subject: [Businessmtg] suggesting a change to motion

Now that I have answers to my questions, I understand why I was confused.
The motion is for ASP to create a web page listing *the Business Meeting
agenda*, which makes it sound like the purpose of this web page is to make
available to everyone on ASP the agenda that currently gets emailed to
people who sign up for the business meeting.

However, in the discussion I'm hearing an understanding that the purpose of
the web page is to list *topics proposed by ASP members in order that they
can be considered for placement on the Business meeting agenda*, not the
agenda itself. This would address the issue of making sure that topics
brought to the trusted servants do not fall through the cracks.

I would like the language of the motion to clarify this so that the
intention of the web page is clear that it is for proposed topics, not the
actual agenda, so as to head off future confusion over what goes on this web
page.

HUGS (Helping Us Gain Serenity), Linda
