[Businessmtg] LA and Founder positions

Based on what I have observed in the business meetings and as a member
of the steering committee, the List Administrator position is too much
for one person.Whether we make an adjustment by having a shared mailbox,
or a committee, or some other adjustment; I believe this will help the
LA position become more manageable.

As for the Founder taking on additional roles - I am against this. I am
uncomfortable with the Founder being a permanent position on the
Steering Committee. I feel it gives an outsize role to one person. And,
while the ASP meetings are great - as others have stated as well - in my
view the SC is in effect 'governed' by the Founder currently. I don't
feel that codifying this reality is a good idea - I believe this reality
needs to change. Concept 12 and the General Warranties, specifically
Warranties 2 and 3, I believe apply here:

 	* that no Conference member shall be placed in unqualified authority
over other members;
 	* that all decisions be reached by discussion, vote and whenever
possible by unanimity;

As the Founder we often look to Steve to - as he has said - be the
arbiter of decisions on the SC. But this, I feel, undermines our own
recovery. As a committee, we should be fully capable of completing our
duties *without* always looking to the Founder essentially for approval.
I say this because when Steve does not approve, he is very adamant about
his objections - and often, I feel, we just go along with what he wants.

If we do go back to making this 'Steve's meeting' - because to me,
that's what this really is about - then we need to be very clear that no
one else on the committee really has any autonomy without Steve's
express approval. When Steve is no longer able or willing to lead - who
is volunteering or how do we determine who the 'Founder or most nearly
so' really is -and do they want to lead the SC? What if they don't? Do
we keep searching? Does the SC stay in some sort of limbo until someone
steps up to 'lead'? This seems anti-AlAnon to me.
