I appreciate Lisa's reminder of Al-Anon principles regarding service and
that the 6 months in ASP can only be a suggested guideline, but it's not a
must.

I am in agreement with the idea of maintaining flexibility in our
guidelines; however, it does make sense wherever possible to have people
who have been active on ASP for a minimum of 6 months serve in the chair
person role.

I do think keeping ASP healthy does mean we would do well to have more
people revolving through service positions.

I don't know if this is bringing up a new topic, if it is my apologies and
someone let me know so I can submit this as a separate topic another time:
I'm wondering if we would do well to consider shortening the length of
chair person service from 6 months to 4 months (3xyear instead of changing
2xyear) or even 3 months (4xyear).  I joined ASP over 2 years ago and have
been in Al-Anon for much longer.  I would have loved to offer to serve in
the chair capacity before now, however because I often traveled I wasn't
sure I would be able to stay on schedule for a full 6 months.  I'm serving
now because with COVID and the world shutting down, I haven't traveled in
the last 6 months and decided to take the chance that I wouldn't for the
next 6 months either.
