Hi, all,

The List Administrator job has sure become easier since Beverly took on the Secretary position! Thank you, Beverly, for serving ASP.

~ There are two primary sources of my daily interactions with ASP's members:

1) Is the continued use of Reply All email addressing by members - usually by our newcomers, but occasionally by more seasoned members as well. Some members don't take the rejection of these emails well; most, as far as I can tell, do.
2) Is ASP's not-so-easy-to-use unsubscribing process. New members who often don't pay too much attention to our introductory letters and member instructions find their in-boxes overflowing with more shares than they expected and want out - often right now!

Both of the above have increased as our membership has grown.

~ Over the last month or so I have stopped addressing member emails twice a day. ASP says that ASP's response time is within 24 hours in any case. I do keep an eye on the incoming emails a couple of times a day in case there's trouble, but have limited my interaction with members to that one sitting.

~ In the past I have mentioned that ASP needs members of ASP's Business Meetings to be more willing to step into our service positions. Without service participation the few who do step forward to serve often become burdened with multiple roles and extended terms.

Lastly, I have emailed my letter of resignation as ASP's List Administrator to the Steering Committee. My service will come to an end on April 1st, a half year short of the end of my 3-year term. I admit to being a bit burned out having filled both the LA and Secretary positions over the recent past, but my primary reasons are the aging process and some nagging health issues. Say what you want about the 70's being the new 50's, but I find this just ain't exactly so. Into my 75th year I'm looking forward to the warm weather, big glasses of iced tea, and a comfortable chair in the shade.

Oh, and to increasing my participation in ASP's recovery meetings! See you there...

In grateful service,
Jerry H.
