Jerry,

I don't know how to respond to this, except by pointing out some of the
facts, again.

1.  Those aren't *my* facts. Those are the facts that I found in our
archives.  Every member of ASP has the same access to the archives as I do.
They speak for themselves, however experience has shown that it works better
when I explain the facts, hence my explanations.  Of the facts.  

2.  Dealing with volunteers and dealing with last-minute wrangling is simply
a part of the job.  Dealing with others in Al-Anon service is well known as
"opportunities for growth".  

3. Many members of Al-Anon think that the purpose of service is to get stuff
done for the fellowship.  While that is true, the core purpose of service in
Al-Anon is to provide opportunities for growth for the member providing the
service.  If that wasn't true, we would fill our service positions with paid
staff like most organizations.

4.  Who said service should be easier?  

5.  As for what others may think?  Al-Anon teaches me to keep my focus on
keeping my side of the street clean, doing what is right, and letting go of
the results.

Service in Al-Anon usually means dealing with people, specifically members
of Al-Anon.  I can't count how many times I've heard it described as trying
to herd cats.
