All, 

I have been largely absent this week due to a family emergency. I will try to form my thoughts into something coherent.

I truly believe that we have to remember that the ASP recovery meeting is like any Al-Anon group and group service requirements simply need a volunteer to step forward and work within the guidelines set. 

However I also believe that the Steering Committee positions may not be appropriate fir everyone.  I think we need better defined roles including limiting autonomy - virtual volunteers and a lack of continuity in these virtual roles has caused issues in the past.  In my opinion to give our SC members sole discretion is not wise and leads to muddied waters. It is far better for say the Secretary to share recruitment challenges with the SC instead along with recommendations or requests for input from the SC before making an exception. I have lots of reasons and experiences that lead me to this recommendation.  I believe that the SC needs to operate as a team even when exercising autonomy.
