[Businessmtg] List Administrator Report

Hi ASPers,
Things are going well over here in ASP HQ. 😊 Way back many years ago, an old timer told me that if you’re in Al-Anon service and someone isn’t mad at you, then you’re not doing the job right. Well, I’m not sure what the score is supposed to be to be doing the job right, but I’ve only had 1 person in the last two months mad at me, and one that is avoiding me.
I’m loathe to report the “numbers” of emails that are generated and sent to the List Administrator because the numbers scare way too many people. Those of you that have been in the Business Meeting for a while know that the vast majority do not need my attention, so I have my computer sort them into a separate folder that I can check if need be, but otherwise don’t pay any attention to. Instead, I log into the server every day or so and clean up whatever the server has set aside for me. Some days the server has nothing for me, other days maybe a half-dozen shares are held. By far the most common reason is members trying to post a share with multiple recipients – that means they addressed their share to more than just the ASP address. Other reasons include a member trying to post an attachment or image, posting something about unsubscribing, or posting something ridiculously long because they tried to include a quote of something, invariably not CAL.
OTOH, a handful of emails are addressed to me directly, and I handle them directly. To make this report more interesting and informative, I’ve included what I received from our last Business Meeting below (I’ve removed anything that might identify the member). The good news is that (a) there aren’t that many and (b) most are friendly. The bad news is that some people are quite unhappy. FWIW, those that ask to be removed/unsubscribed from ASP are simply unsubscribed – I don’t try to remind them that we told them right up front that they’d get 50+ emails a day. I learned a long time ago that they don’t read most of what we tell them. Ugh.
Love and SERENITY,
Steve

I AM REQUESTING THIS EMAIL TO BE REMOVED FROM YOUR LIST ASAP
THAT MEANS TODAY NOT WHEN YOU GET AROUND TO IT! DO YOUR JOB!
Hi Steve—
Someone referred me to you because as a newcomer I realized my last name is in my email and in the subject line. Any suggestions on how to stay anonymous?
Thanks,
Hello - would you mind changing my email from xxxxx to yyyyyy <mailto:katherinemacdonald74 at gmail.com> ? thank you.
Pls do not unsubscribe me! Thank you!
Sent from my iPhone
The emails are by the hundreds per week, too much to be effective, way too many emails to read through
Hi Steve
I would like the ASP meeting to be restored to my in box.
I had it turned off for a while.
Let me know if I need to do anything else.
[NOTE: this member left almost a year ago]
Hi Steve.
I hope this finds you well!
It appears I am not getting any emails from our site.
I think it might be my fault by accident, but could you please make sure that I am re admittted to ASP?
Can't live without this place!
Thank
you so very much and have an awesome Saturday!!!
Hi Steve,
I'm new to this, and don't understand how I can get the daily topic, so I can reply.
Can you help me out with this?
Thanks,
Member S: Hi Steve, it's S. At this point in my life I can't keep up with the emails. I'd like to stay a member for the resources and support. Thanks
Steve: I’m not sure what that means or what you would like me to do for you.
Member S: Okay, thanks for being there.
Hi Steve
As a newcomer to this group I am appreciative of the information and support I feel. I no longer feel so alone in my journey. I am struggling a bit with the various abbreviations that are used. HP is obvious but there are many others that I am not quite sure about. I feel like it is a different language that is being spoken at times.
It has been many years since I was a member of a group. The only book I have is Courage to Change.
Thanks
